Hummingbird Music School Policy

For Private Lessons, we offer two payment options:

1) Monthly Tuition:

Tuition is a flat monthly fee.

  • Monthly tuition guarantees a regular weekly lesson time with your teacher.
  • Monthly tuition includes participation in our annual recital.
  • Educational material, music books, instrument rental and other accessories are additional cost.
  • Students may purchase additional lessons (if preparing for an exam or recital) with a single lesson pass.
  • Monthly tuition is due monthly on the day that your initial tuition bill is processed, and is billed automatically to your credit card (VISA or Mastercard) or via paypal.

2) Single Lesson Passes:

Single Lesson Passes can be purchased for those students not able to commit to a regular weekly lesson.

  • There is no guarantee that the same teacher will be available for each lesson, or that each lesson will be at the same day and time.
  • Single lesson passes do not include participation in our annual recital.
  • Educational material, music books, instrument rental and other accessories are additional cost.

Trial Lessons: Trial lessons are priced the same as a single lesson pass. We do not offer complimentary trial lessons.

Cancellation and Reschedule Policy for Private Lessons:

To cancel a lesson, 24-hour notice via email (hummingbirdmusicschool@gmail.com) is required in order to receive credit for a make-up lesson.

If a lesson is canceled with less than 24 hours notice, you will be charged for the missed lesson with no option for a make-up lesson. In the case of illness, a lesson may be made up if canceled by 10:00 a.m. the day of the lesson.

It is the students’ responsibility to arrange a make-up lesson (through email with hummingbirdmusicschool@gmail.com). If you are not able to make any of the alternate times offered, you will be charged for your missed lesson. Missed lessons must be made up within 30 days.

If Hummingbird Music School cancels a lesson, your tuition for the missed lesson will be credited to you.

If you decide to stop taking lessons, a minimum of two weeks notice is required.

Policy for Group Classes:

Missed Classes: There is no make-up or credit for any missed Group Class.

Cancellation: Hummingbird Music School reserves the right to cancel classes with insufficient enrollment. If a class is cancelled, students will be notified and given the opportunity to transfer to another class. If a student does not enroll in another class, they will receive a full refund.

Withdrawal: You may withdraw from a class before or within 24 hours after the first class. Hummingbird Music School will refund the tuition (minus the cost of the first class).

Care of Students: Hummingbird Music School is not responsible for providing before or after care for students. Any child attending an after care program will be brought over to us and picked up after class by that after care program. If your child does not go to an after care program, it is your child's responsibility to walk to our class on their own, or to be brought over by a parent or other adult guardian. We do not pick up children from classrooms.

Restroom policy: teachers do not accompany children to restrooms. If a child must use the restroom during class time, they will be accompanied by another child ("buddy system").

Late Policy: Any student not picked up at end of class time will be assessed a late fee. Late fees are calculated per child.
Late fee schedule is as follows:
picked up within 15 minutes of class end time – $25
picked up within 30 minutes of class end time – $50
picked up after 30 minutes of class end time - $100

School-wide Policy:

Adult Requirement: For in-home lessons, a parent or other adult is required to be present for the duration of the lesson time.
